HOME WORSHIP RESOURCES FOR SUNDAY MARCH 1, 2015

posted Mar 1, 2015, 4:54 AM by Don Burley

Good Morning!

Below you will find a short order of worship with some suggestions for individuals and/or families to celebrate since we are unable to have service together at church today.

PREPARE YOUR HEART

Create a special place for worship at home.  Set a table, with a  bible in the center if you have it.  Make this a special experience if you want.

Light a candle for your worship time.  Just like in worship let the candle be a reminder of Christ’s presence in your space.  If you have children allow them to assist in lighting the candle.

OPENING PRAYER – May be read aloud or read silently.

O God, for this day we thank you!

As we (I) worship this morning let our (my) heart(s) and mind(s) be open to all that you have for us (me).

SONGS OF PRAISE

Blessed Be Your Name - This song is a good one to remind us that we can praise God in the storms and see blessings in everything!

One Thing Remains - As you listen to this song allow your heart to be reminded that God's love never fails and continues in the good and bad times of life.

OFFERING OF GIFTS –

Spend a few moments thanking God for all of your blessings.  Name some of them out loud or write them down.  Now how will you give of yourself to God this next week?  What ways can you use your gifts for God’s glory?

SCRIPTURE

Philippians 4:4-9 (The Message)

4-5 Celebrate God all day, every day. I mean, revel in him! Make it as clear as you can to all you meet that you’re on their side, working with them and not against them. Help them see that the Master is about to arrive. He could show up any minute!

6-7 Don’t fret or worry. Instead of worrying, pray. Let petitions and praises shape your worries into prayers, letting God know your concerns. Before you know it, a sense of God’s wholeness, everything coming together for good, will come and settle you down. It’s wonderful what happens when Christ displaces worry at the center of your life.

8-9 Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse. Put into practice what you learned from me, what you heard and saw and realized. Do that, and God, who makes everything work together, will work you into his most excellent harmonies.

MESSAGE AND MEDITATION

Our focus this Lenten season is on Prayer.  To begin our journey this season lets focus on prayer and a way we might spend quality prayer time with God.  After reading the scripture today spend some time processing through the activity below.

PRAYER

You can follow the pattern below or pray in your own way. However you choose just be focused and real in your conversation with God.  Look outside at the falling snow and be reminded of the holy covering of God.  Enjoy your prayer time with the Lord today.  This is also a great activity to do with Children!

P.R.A.Y. – Praise, Repent, Ask, Yield.

Praise – What are you thankful for.  How have you seen God work this week in your life, and/or in the lives of others? Offer to God all of your praise and thanks!

Repent – What are the ways that you may have fallen short this week? Be honest with God and ask for forgiveness.  Then feel the peace that God offers you.

Ask – What are your needs right now? Ask God for those things that are weighing most heavy on your heart.  Give them to God today.

Yield – Pause now and take 5 deep cleansing breaths.  In silence and peace feel the peace of God fill your heart.

CLOSING PRAYER

God,  I submit my life to you and your will.  Use me in anyway you can.  I trust you in all things, for all things, and with all things.  AMEN
